Am I Enough?
In my faith, on numerous occasions I have felt like the odd one out or as if my opinions weren’t valid because I was coming from a biblical perspective. So, insecurities immediately began to surface and I began to start to ask the question, “Am I Enough?” This began to weigh heavily on my heart because I was unsure of how to push through what I was feeling, and I began to question my own faith and the path it was leading me.
Ultimately I began down a road of self-reflection, prayer, and deep-dives into the word because although it’s something that is always there, I needed validation from my Creator that I was enough. Honestly, searching for validation in my faith may be something I continue to struggle with because it is very easy to take one small seed of doubt and turn it into something much larger than it already is. But, that’s not to say it’s something I don’t work through, in fact I should be in constant pursuit of Christ to help me overcome those insecurities of if I am enough or not.
Whenever you feel like you are not enough or if someone/something makes you feel like you are not worthy I would suggest that you start by looking at Jesus. Christ’s love for us is unmatchable to any feeling of worthlessness that crosses our minds, “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord,” Romans 8:38-39. Nothing can separate us from the power and might of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ because he already went through trials and tribulations that tested him. He had to bear the weight of our sin on the cross, while being mocked and ridiculed at the same time. But, through it all, he still showed love.
Christ’s love brings peace that surpasses all understanding, which is why I encourage you that whenever you feel like you are not enough, turn to the Lord. He can help us overcome whatever unworthiness we feel because in him we have worth and that’s all that matters. However difficult it may be, try not to focus on the distractions of this world that make you feel like you are not enough because of your faith. Because it is in our faith in Christ that we have everything we could ever need, and we are enough.
