How to drive an atv
Driving an atv is very fun, but can be very dangerous if you don’t know what you’re doing. When driving an atv, it’s always important to wear a helmet. If you fall, the helmet will protect your head and keep you from getting significant head injuries. An atv is much more likely to tip over than a car because it is narrower and has stickier tires. Know your limits when you drive one. Never go beyond what you are comfortable with. An atv is the same principle as a car, except that it has handlebars and a thumb throttle. It also has brakes either on the handlebars or on the floor. An atv has a much smaller engine than a car has. Even so, some atvs can be very powerful. Be very careful if you are driving a powerful atv. Also, look at the age rating of the atv. If it says anyone under 16 shouldn’t drive it, you probably shouldn’t drive it. Starting an atv may be difficult because older models are often difficult to start. Have someone that knows what they’re doing start an older atv. If you have a newer atv, turn the key, hold in the brake, and press the start button. Shift the vehicle into what ever gear you want to be in. Do not try to do wheelies. Wheelies are very dangerous and only should be done if you have been riding for a long time. When you are going up a steep hill, put the atv into four wheel drive, and lean forward. This will reduce flipping over. When you are going down a hill, use the rear breaks and lean back. If you do flip over shut the vehicle off. Never ride with two people on an atv, unless it’s a special two seat model. Find an atv that fits your skill set. With these tips, riding an atv will be fun and easy.
