Beauty and Beast Review
Beauty and the Beast is a classic animated film that has evolved into a modern day film loved by all ages. This film is guaranteed to put a smile on the audience faces. Beauty and the Beast is a mixture of romance, comedy, and just plain family fun. Westminster students Ann Borchelt, sophomore, and Jordan Shaw, sophomore, share their review of this fantasy.
Ann Borchelt loved the beginning scene in the village during the song “Belle.”
“It was so pretty and I think it gave a really accurate representation of what the village was like. I also loved the ballroom scene. Belle’s dress was so pretty and the music was perfect,” expressed Borchelt.
Ann says going into Beauty and the Beast she was super skeptical because she personally loved the animated version.
“I think that it lined up very well with the animated. Emma Watson did a really good job as Belle,” explained Borchelt.
Ann has already seen it twice and is going to see it again. She didn’t like how violent it was when the village stormed the castle/when Gaston shot Beast. In the animated, he uses a bow and arrow. In the live action film he uses a gun. It was just a little too violent for her.
“I cried twice. The first time was when Beast and Belle went back to Belle’s house in Paris where she was born. The backstory of where her mom was and the visual of how much her dad loved her was really moving. I also cried when the last petal fell from the rose and everything in the object became inanimate. It was super sad to see all of the characters that we had seen throughout the movie die (for a split second),” explained Borchelt.
There are so many great parts in the movie but Jordan Shaw’s favorite scene was the ballroom scene.
“The way the music brought back nostalgia and blended so well with the emotions felt between the characters was so beautiful! It was so gorgeous just how it all came together,” expressed Shaw.
Comparing to the original Jordan thought that was pretty good, though she wished they had done the singing cleaning scene but overall it was pretty spot on.
“Though the original will always be better but it’s a close second,” explained Shaw.
Jordan would 100% see it a, thousand times over! There is nothing she didn’t dislike. She cried when they started turning into inanimate objects towards the end because the last petal was falling and even though you knew they would be fine in the end, it still made her super nervous and sad.
“And when chip almost fell but got caught by the coat hanger that was really sad because I thought he was going to fall and shatter! I give it a 12/10 stars! It was fantastic,” declared Shaw.
Overall, Beauty and the Beast will always be a classic that the whole family will love. The new version is just as enjoyable as the original. Beauty and the Beast is amazing movie that all ages should see.
