How to be Successful in High School
When high schoolers hear the word success that automatically think the have to be the best of the best to have ultimate success. They’re all different types of ways to have success in high school. Many people gain success by taking several routes to achieve their goals. It takes a lot to maintain success it does not come easy. People must balance their academic lives with their social lives and extracurricular activities. Westminster students, Alivia Johnston, senior, Maggie Kehr, sophomore, and Ava Binder, freshman, give tips of how to achieve success in high school.
“I can not stress enough how important it is to have a couple of friends that know you really well and have the same morals or convictions. When hard times come you have them to lean on and when you feel weak and vulnerable they are there to steer you back onto the right path. Godly friends are very important,”explains Johnston.
Alivia Johnston thinks success as a high school student can look like many different things. She believes having a strong academic presence and always making school a priority is one key to success. Secondly, being a good friend and focus on having relationships that push you to be a better person. Lastly, committing to be a leader that your peers look up to with respect. Alivia says having someone to hold you accountable is very helpful.
“I have an accountability partner who helps keep me accountable with things I don’t catch. I hold myself accountable mainly by just self reflection and asking God to reveal the things i need to work on,”said Kehr.
Maggie Kehr thinks mainly success is living your life for the Lord and really trying to honor him through all that you do, which includes giving your best with everything you do (academics, athletics, and relationships with people). Whether the outcome is or isn’t what you had hoped for, what matters is that you did it to honor Christ and striving to be like Christ can affect our lives in so many positive ways that that is success alone.
“Be well-rounded: focused on school, but also involved in an extracurricular or some type of activity. Have Happiness: although school can be extremely stressful at time, be overall happy and satisfied with your life. Lastly, have a strong relationship with the Lord,” says Binder
Ava Binder believes the key to success is having good grades or at least striving for the best grades each student can individually get. Ava advises students to have strong friendships that are true and deep that will hopefully last long after high school.
Success is very simple thing to achieve. It is a very difficult challenge during the school year, but the hard work always pays off in the end.
When people have success they set plans ahead of time. They have ideas for their future. Organization is an important skill to have while maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
