The First three days of ITSOG
a recap pf the first three days of ITSOG
ITSOG stands for In The Spirit Of Giving. It is a week in November when students will bring in items that will be donated to different charities. November 9th’s ITSOG was food. Students were asked to bring canned foods and non-perishables for Sunshine ministries. Sunshine Ministries is a non-profit Christian organization that helps those in need. Their purpose is to serve and glorify God by giving people what they need. At the end of the day, WCA brought in around 5,800 goods. The sophomore class accounted for most of the items coming out on top in first place with the freshman a close second. Westminster’s overall goal is 35,000 items, so students should try to bring in more. Reaching this goal would guarantee a week of dress down days. We should thank the volunteers for organizing the items. There are many things to do and lots of places where things can go awry. Thanks to STUCO and Ms. Woodall for doing this, too.
On Tuesday, students were told to bring pajamas for ITSOG. Tuesday wasn’t quite as successful as Monday, as 1900 items were brought. The Sophomores won again, bringing over 600 items. This means that the Sophomores have a total of 2218 items and get a dress down day on Wednesday. The freshmen are second, 7th grade, and the juniors are tied for 3rd, and the 8th grade is in last. The pajamas go to One Heart Ministries, an organization dedicated to helping kids find foster homes.
On Wednesday, November 11 students were asked to bring toys for ITSOG. These toys would be donated to Whole Kids Outreach. Whole Kids Outreach is a faith-based, nonprofit organization that helps the needs of children, youth, and pregnant women. These toys would be given to the kids that don’t own toys. The school brought in a little under 1100 toys. The sophomores won for the third time in a row, but the freshmen were right behind them. These results mean we have brought in 8800 items in total. We are over halfway through ITSOG and we have 26200 more items to bring.
