Inside FCA
Who, what, when, where, and why FCA?
Westminster has always been involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and while most people do know, some may not be aware of Westminster’s FCA student meetings every week during the school year. Dozens of athletes join together at the Kehrs’ house, every Tuesday night, from 7 to around 8:30 or 9 pm.
Typically, for the first hour, the students hang out, play games, and eat. So come hungry, because there is what seems to be an endless supply of delicious food.
For the last 30 minutes or so, the student athletes discuss the devotional for the day. This may be how Christians should deal with losing, as well as other discussions that relate to each student’s life in sports. Margo Koby, Meegan Williams, Macy Catlett, and Elisabeth Sems all are in charge of running the devotions. People not only learn how to be a better Christian athlete, but they also make new friends at the meetings.
“FCA has been really fun this year for me. I’ve met a lot of new people, learned how to be a better Christian athlete, and on top of it all, I get free food!”, said Jack Linton, junior.
Even if you are do not play a sport at WCA, feel free to go to FCA. The time works well for students in a sport or after school activity since it is later in the day, so if you are looking for a fun time, seeking to build a better relationship with Christ and friends, or just plain hungry, come down to the Kehrs’ house each Tuesday night.
