Brooke Cogan may seem like a regular math teacher. Positioned in the junior hallway, Cogan teaches precalculus and calculus and is a coach for Lacrosse. However, there is much more to Mrs. Cogan then meets the eye. Earlier last year, Mrs. Cogan launched HI LOVELY, an online bible study to help guide students in their spiritual journey.
As Cogan relates, the inspiration for her decision to start HI LOVELY came from her students: “During my third year of teaching and coaching, I realized that many students desire some more direction, tips, and inspiration for how to have a deeper relationship with Christ. I felt like the Lord was calling me to create a space where elementary through high school girls could find resources, events, and classes for what it looks like to be a Christian female in 2025”.
“In addition to my love of teaching math, I love teaching others about Jesus- specifically on things that are challenging to do as a Christian but make life as a teenage girl so much easier (examples: praying and reading your Bible every day). I wanted to create a space where I could talk about the things I am passionate about.”
The impact HI LOVELY is profound. Students rave about how much it has impacted their lives both in school and out, HI LOVELY has also touched the lives of those outside of Westminster.
Myah DeRossett, a senior who had Mrs. Cogan as a teacher remarked on her profound impact on her life: “I had Mrs. Cogan as my pre-calculus teacher Junior year. She was such a good teacher academically and she cared about us all so much”.
“Mrs. Cogan is such a light for the Westminster community and it’s really inspiring to see how much she cares for all her students both academically, spiritually, and personally. When I had her, HI LOVELY was kinda just gaining traction. To see how far it has come in just a year is really awesome. Even though I do not have her as a teacher anymore, the impact she had on me will last” says DeRossett.
“I’ve never had Mrs. Cogan as a teacher but she seems like a great person, I can tell she cares about her students a lot” says senior Ella Porter.
”I have a lot of friends that are a part of HI LOVELY and they rave about it. They love it. It’s really cool to see how it’s impacted peoples lives” says Porter.
HI LOVELY originally started off solely as a Christian blog, but has grown into much more. HI LOVELY now has live events and a podcast, and is only continuing to grow.

“Overall, HI LOVELY is a girls ministry where I host events, classes, and Bible reading plans where I teach and encourage young females in their walk in Christ. I also recently started a podcast with a friend called Motivated for More (found on spotify, apple podcasts, or youtube) that also talks about similar things! You can also look at my website https://www.hilovely.org/ or insta: @hi.lovely.by.brookecogan for more info” says Cogan.
“I’ve hosted one event at WCA that girls came to after school and multiple Bible study lunches. Most people at WCA participate in my Bible reading plans that I create. Outside of WCA, I host in person events, Bible reading plans, and have started teaching classes for 5th and 6th grade girls and local christian elementary schools on biblical topics.”
