Running For a Cause

Project Give Well raised over three thousand dollars as they worked towards their goal.

On Saturday, April 11th, over one hundred student, faculty, and families could be seen walking and running all across Westminster’s campus. This was due to a group of students known as Project Give Well, who held a 5k Fun Run to raise money for charity.

“This was a lot of work and many months of planning. There was just a lot of coordination of all the volunteers and working together with students, teachers, administration. The school was great in letting us do this and having the confidence in us to do it well. But the planning was time consuming in working out all the mini things like getting food and water donated,” said Alex Lawrence, freshman and member of the Project Give Well group.

Project Give Well, a student-founded and run organization, has asked the WCA community to come together and contribute to a fund that will go to build a school in Kinshasa, Congo for two hundred children.

To do this, they must raise 13,900 dollars, roughly the cost of one Westminster student’s tuition. Saturday’s 5k was a fundraiser where each participant contributed twenty-five dollars to run or walk 3.1 miles.

With over one hundred participants on race day, Project Give Well managed to raise around three thousand dollars on just one morning. Combined with the other funds they have collected over the school year, Project Give Well is over halfway to their goal.
