For the last few seasons, Westminster girls tennis has produced some very quality play. The last two years the team has not only made it to districts, but have also sent multiple players to state. The 2021 season was dominant for the cats, they cruised their way through districts and made their way to state, taking home a class two second place trophy with a close loss from Kennett high school.
While last season ended unfortunately, with the cats losing by just a matter of matches to Villa Duchesne in the second round of districts, star player Aryn Walker was able to qualify for the girls individual state and had a very dominant run, taking home a 3rd place medal. With players such as Aryn Walker, Greta Larsen, and Keeley O’mera, the cats hope to continue their streak of successful seasons. “There is a strong bond between the girls and there is so much potential for our team this year! There is constant encouragement from all teammates and positive energy both during practices and matches” Senior Emma Dempsey states. Some firepower on the team includes players such as seniors Anna Enger and Emma Dempsey. The roster for this upcoming season is looking very promising for the cats. Last season the cats had a record of 7-9, with a 43.8% win percentage. The 2021 season boasted a 13-8 record with a 61.9% win percentage.
