Last week, the girls tennis team took the spotlight for Westminster sports, and the top two ranked players on the team, Greta Larson, sophomore, and Avery Surber, senior, led the way.

The team as a whole faced Ursuline, a squad they had faced earlier in the season in a tournament, on Tuesday October 5th on home court. Larson and Surber’s doubles win greatly contributed to the team’s claim of the Class 1 District 6 title.

Then, on Friday October 8th, the duo advanced to sectionals in Mexico, Missouri and dominated both sets 6-1 against Palmyra.

Now, this coming weekend, on October 15th and 16th, Larson and Surber will be competing at the state tournament in Springfield. Surber is looking for redemption after falling short at state last year with her partner Hailey Colley, a senior at the time.

Today, on October 12th, the Cats are competing in team sectionals at home and hope to advance to the state tournament along with their power duo.
