The Bigger They Are, The Harder They Fall: Ladue Preview

The Westminster offense lines up before the snap in a game against Liberty.

Dearest Westminster,

We march on after emerging victorious over Camp Parkway North last weekend. It was a true display of commitment and character by the metro area militiamen going into another man’s fort and taking what is his. It is not how one starts, it is how one finishes. We did not begin the game on the right foot, but as the battle’s end was drawing near, the good guys had the advantage. There were many parallels between the game and our season.

Unfortunately, our war is far from won. It is time to make a quick trip to Camp Ladue to fight the Rams. In the last two calendar years, Camp Ladue has fought in twenty-five battles and tasted only one defeat. This came just two weeks ago due to a collapse like that of the Ponte das Barcas Bridge in Portugal in the Year of our Lord 1809.

There is no getting around the fact that our men will be large underdogs. But it was not over when the Boston Bruins won game six in Camp Saint Louis. Nor was it over when Camp Alabama’s kicker lined up to kick a field goal to seal the Iron Bowl in 2013. It was not over in 2016 when the Cleveland Cavaliers trailed the mighty Camp Golden State by a tally of three to one.

As the old saying goes, “the bigger they are, the harder they fall.” Be wary this Friday evening as the ground may begin to shake sometime around 2200 hours. If this takes place, men all around the world will hear the tale of the defending state champions falling to the Town and Country titans.

I believe in the Camp Westminster men as should every other citizen that arrives at 800 Maryville Centre Drive to perform daily activities. We are in this for the long haul, for the dust will not settle until it is time to gather Christmas choirs.

This Friday evening, it is time to make some noise in the local sports world. A win is ours for the taking, it is go-time. Be steadfast and stay warm.

With love,
800 Sporting
