Golf Takes On Metro Conference Tournament
On April 21, the Men’s Varsity Golf Team took their talents to the Metro Conference Tournament. The field consisted of Defending State Champions, MICDS, Priory, District Runner-up, Lutheran South, and John Burroughs. Despite the loaded field, the Cats held their own at the challenging Old Warson Country Club. Jordan Merkel, freshmen, led the cats to shoot an 8 over par, 79 on a course that ranked in the top 100 in the Country. Merkel was awarded 8th overall in the Conference. Close behind was Drew Port, junior, who fired an 82. Other counting scores were Austin Benefield with an 83 and J.D. Klein with an 87. The Cats finished 3rd out of the 5 teams in competition. The tournament served as a preview of the District Tournament on May 6th. The Cats will face Priory and Lutheran South once again for a chance to become 6 time defending district champions.
